Spanish MissionsThe Spanish traveled to the New World and set up missions. The goal of these missions were to convert all the Indians they come across into Catholicism. However, they weren't very nice about it. They forced Indians into becoming Catholic, but the Spanish weren't very nice so then the Indians didn't want to become Catholic.

Hernando De SotoMost Europeans that explored Georgia were Spanish. In 1540, the Spanish explorer Hernando De Soto was probably the first European to explore Georgia. (Today's Georgia) Between 1525 and 1646, most europeans explored both the coast and the interior of Georgia, covering most of the inhabited portions of the Coastal Plain and parts of the lower Piedmont.
